Just saw a channel 4 report here in the UK about a guy called Chewit whose been elected to the Thai parliarment on an anti-corruption ticket despite the fact that he is a brothel owner who admits to paying huge amounts of bribes to the police.Thai politics is becoming farcical.

My wife, and a number of my friends voted for him actually. He ran on an anti-corruption platform.

Well, it should cut the price of a 'special' massage if the police are cut out of the act.

I think Chewit has been out of the business for a while. But it does go to show how different politics and the sex industry are seen here, vice in a western country. I don't think an owner of a brothel chain could ever become a serious political candidate back home and I think most people assume his morals are tainted because of the association. BTW his daughter is drop dead good looking. I watched her on TV a couple of weeks ago. First class.

Spot on Madmac, that is exactly how I saw it. I can't imagine anybody in the porn or sex industry being taken seriously when running for high office in U.S.A. or U.K.
Mind you it's OK if your a washed-up film star or serial philanderer.

I remember when Schwarzenegger ran (and won) for California's governorship my German friends thought that was a joke. I thought it was a great reflection on the American character. What are the odds that in Germany a non ethnic German could win the presidency of one of it's states? At any rate, I like Chewit. I like his platform.

Can you trust him? This is an honest question because the piece on the news really didn't do any background on the guy just followed him on the campaign trail. What exactly happened to reform him? The report seemed to think it was sour grapes after being busted by the cops, despite paying them handsomely.

'BTW his daughter is drop dead good looking.'
(Madmac referring to Chewit's daughter)
Taksin's sister isn't too bad either and pretty young for a country's leader.

"Can you trust him?"
He's a politician. So no would be the answer. I don't trust any politicians. They are not in the trust business.
And yeah, Yingluck has it going on.
