landing temporary work in SEA, how realistic is it?

    Hey Guys,
So I'll be heading to SEA on a one-way ticket come January 2014. I'd like to travel the region for at least 4 months, on a budget of $5,000(US). I intend to visit: Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. My itinerary is open, time isn't an issue, but money is. Therefore, I'm open to the idea of working for weeks or months on end throughout my trip, even if only to save money on room and board. How realistic is it for me to assume that I could find temporary work teaching English, bartending, etc. throughout the region, without making prior arrangements?

Also, I've heard that as an American it's relatively easy to obtain an Australian work visa, along with work. How true is this? Any tips?
