my girlfriend and i are travelling the regular se asian countries and woul like to know if this is a realistic budget

Yes, it's realistic. Actually it's more of a flashpacker budget if you're going for 2 or 4 months. My gf and i did the Malaysian east coast and south Thailand in a month for roughly 500 to 600 pounds and we had quite a great time.

i may be wrong but i think psridley7 means "between two [people] for 6 months" rather than 2 or 4 months
