Hi all.
I'm hoping to travel around South East Asia/Indonesia/India for a year or more and I'm wondering how to manage my money. How much travellers cheques/ how much on ATM. Has anyone been away for this long and if so what did you do. I know there are topics on managing money but I couldn't find any that refered to this lenght of travel. Any advice much appreciated.
Tricky. Let's say you're talking about say US$12,000 all up, I wouldn't be too keen on carrying 12k worth of TQs around with me -- partly the bulk and partly because they'd be pretty well worn by month 11. So maybe split it 50/50 -- 5 or 6 k in TQs and resort to ATM once you've used up the cheques.
