If you're looking to have a lot of fellow westerners around who will be celebrating as well, then Vang Vieng, Laos is certainly a place where there will be people partying. Probably a more relaxed gathering around Luang Prabang. With Vietnam or Laos, if you want to be around a lot of people who are actually celebrating Christmas it is probably best to stick to big cities.

Thanks for the reply.
Not really sure on Vang Vieng, sounds a bit chavtastic. Is this actually the case or has it just acquired a bad press? Luang Prabang seems really nice, any recommendations for good hotels, travelling cheap but willing to push the boat out for Xmas?
Also in your opinion which is better Luang Prabang or Hanoi, bearing in mind we obviously would like some westerners to celebrate with.
Thanks again
