Hi!
Chinese new year is coming up - on January 27th. And we are a family who would like to experience it, now that we are here in SE Asia.
Right now we are in Phnom Penh, planning to go to Siam Reap tomorrow, and from here to Battambang and then Bangkok.
Question is: Where is the best place to be for the new year? Should we drop Battambang and hurry to Bangkok? Or stay in Siam Reap? And where to be in those places once new year arrives....
Any input and thoughts are higly aprreciated :-))

I had a terrific Chinese New Year in Bangkok one year -- spent the day in Chinatown and had a ball -- was heaving, HEAVING with people.
The current photo of the woman in makeup on the front page of Travelfish was taken that day.

Yeah, I did believe it would attract a lot of people. Would it be too much for children (aged 8 and 11) - or is there specific places that are better than others ?

Just wanted to give an update: we ended up going to Bangkok and stayed at New Empire Hotel in Chinatown, in a room facing Yarowa rd. That was the perfect place to be!! We could see all the dragons, the stalls and everything. Noise from the street high, but OK really, all things considered. We paid 1000 Baht for a tripple room with aircon incl. breakfast.
