Hi everyone, does anyone know how I go about getting a visa for India? I'm planning a two month backpacking trip from start of June to end of July.
I've heard it's easier to get one beforehand, rather than try and get one on entry, is this true?

That depends on which passport you hold. I just looked this up for US citizens yesterday, and found out I need to send my passport to a US-based Indian consulate or embassy, and the fee is something like $67. (I'm now guessing at the price).
There is a visa on arrival, but only valid for a few select nationalities (not for Americans).
