17 nights trip to India - first timer itinerary

Posted by royalwithcheese on 19/5/2014 at 16:20

Hi there,

We are a couple in our mid-twenties who is in the early stages of planning a trip to India over the Christmas/New Year period and would really appreciate some thoughts on the first draft of our itinerary below.

- Do you think we have missed any must-see places?

- Is there anywhere we could cut out if needed?

- Is the time frame feasible? We realise we are being ambitious, but we simply don't have more time available

(the reason for the strange circuit is we want to end our stay in India with a relaxing trip to Goa and/or Kochi - any preferences?)

Itinerary: Flying in from Yangon in Myanmar...

Chennai: 2 nights

FLIGHT to...

Varanasi: 2 nights

FLIGHT to...

Delhi 2 nights

Night train to...

Agra 2 nights

Night bus to...

Jaipur: 2 nights

FLIGHT to...

Goa: 3 nights

FLIGHT to...

Kochi: 2 nights

Thanks a lot for your help!

sorry to say your itinerary is a joke, decide what you actually want to experience and do a major rethink - keep Varanasi, could add somewhere like Madurai or Khajuraho, could fly in to Kolkata not Chennai, do not waste any time at a beach.

Do not follow lifesupport (at TT) and do at least one train journey ...

India will be great - good for you! It would be good to know a little more about your interest in the places you have chosen, and maybe what places interested you but didn't make the cut.

It definitely seems too much. At first glance, Chennai seems a strange choice (though I have never been there). Definitely keep Varanasi. Goa and Kochi is overkill - what are you interested in for relaxing? Does it have to be a beach? Backwaters of Kerala by boat is another option...
