A good route...? Vietnam - Cambodia - Thailand

Hi there, looking for a good route and any advice/suggestions for our trip…have a bit of a plan. Leaving Sydney 16 May to spend around 30 days travel from Vietnam to Cambodia then into Thailand. Have been through Vietnam so was thinking of starting in Ho Chi Minh head down the Mekong river into Cambodia (must see Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh) then onto Thailand (must see a few islands for diving, temples and a bit of culture) ending in Bangkok. Could maybe fly from Cambodia to Thailand to save on time giving ourselves time to pop into Laos (just a thought!) but its only 30days and I suppose we can’t do everything!!! If you’ve done it what’s the story… can you add in a few must see stops along the way?

Here's one example of a route you could try. With just 30 days, I'd suggest leaving Laos for another trip.

Ho Chi Minh City - Cantho (for some of the largest floating markets in Vietnam)
Cantho - Chau Doc (More Delta stuff, boat to Phnom Penh)
Chau Doc - Phnom Penh (Sightseeing, relaxing by the river)
Phnom Penh - Siem Reap (Angkor Wat)
Siem Reap - Trat (Typical small Thai town)
Trat - Ko Chang/Ko Maak/Ko Kut (Three islands - take your pick!)
Trat - Ban Phe - Ko Samet (One more island just for good measure)
Ban Phe - Bangkok (Soak it up)
Bangkok - Kanchanaburi (Sightseeing, national parks)
Kanchanaburi - Sangkhlaburi (Temples, jungle scenery)
Sangkhlaburi - Bangkok
