hi there!
im planning my first solo backpacking (3-4 weeks) trip to the 3 places mentioned above...im just wondering how much would it ALL cost (e.i. transpo, food, accomodation, fees, guide, tour packages,etc...).im not much of a party person, prefers eco-adventure and cultural trips and not really picky with food and lodging as long as it's clean and secure..would appreciate your tips/feedback on this.

Hi anj,
It's a pretty general question! What sort of standard accommodation are you looking for? Once you suggest that, can give you some ideas on the rest.
Separately, covering those three countries in 3-4 weeks translates into a LOT of travel in a short period of time -- that will push up your costs.

hi somtam2000,
you're right...i guess i'll leave laos for next time and focus on cambodia and vietnam instead. actually, i plan to fly from philippines to HCMC, but not yet sure whereto after that as i am still looking for a doable and time/money-efficient route..any suggestions (e.i. itinerary/route and length of stay)?
i prefer to visit temples, traditional markets,villages, museums/historical sites, jungles, beaches/rivers (for snorkeling, kayaking), caves,etc.. parties and night life aren't really my thing, though. as for accomodation, all i need is a clean bed and bathroom (basic to midrange same-gender sharing dormitories/hostels maybe?). i hope this helps...

For Vietnam, a backpacker travelling comfortably is looking at around $20-$25 a day -- similar in Cambodia, though some legs in cambodia are a bit pricey (eg boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap).
