Buying a mobile phone - Thailand or Malaysia?

    I'm on my way from Thailand to Malaysia. I want to buy a cheap (maybe second hand) mobile phone, which I intend to use in Australia. Would it be cheaper to buy this in Thailand or Malaysia?
