We're looking to book a few flights with Discovery Airpass and my question concerns transit times in the new Suvanabhumi Airport.
We arrive at approx 13:35hrs and there is an opportunity to catch a flight to Vientiane at 15:10hrs on the same day as we don't really want to stop in BKK. Are we being a little unrealistic or does the new airport lend itself to easy transit.
It depends on if you need to clear Thai customs or not when you arrive.
The new airport is MASSIVE -- and if your flight lands at a distant gate, you're looking at a 20 minute walk from the gate to bag clearance etc.
So, if you land at a distant gate and take off from a distant gate and have to clear immigration, then it may be a little close, but you'll probably be ok as it is unlikely that both your flights will land at far away points from customs etc... just pack some jogging shoes ;-)
There are still ongoing complaints about bags being slow to appear though, so bear that in mind as well.

Cheers for that Stu; it's not that I've anything against Bangkok, it's a great place, but time's a premium.
I suppose the fact we'll be on 'International Transit' means we’ll not have to clear customs when we arrive, so BKK-VTE here we come.
