Duration 8weeks.
Start: ChiangMai, early October.
End: Singapore. Mid December
Countries:
Thailand (chiang mai & chiang rai only, have seen most of the rest of it)
Laos
Vietnam
Cambodia
I amheading to the above in October with the Girlfriend, we will have just arrivedfrom 3 weeks in India, hence flying into BKK and then get a connecting flightto Chiang Mai as we want to get as north as possible and work our way down allthe way to Phnon Phen/Ho Chi Ming and into Singapore.
We have just over 2 months so we are lookingfor a good mix, we don’t want to be on the go all the time, maybe around 10places in total.
We enjoythe cities and seeing major historical sites/temples but also enjoy the laidback island/beach scene. An odd trek or 2 into the jungle would be fun also, egthe flight of the gibbon.
Does anyonehave any recommendations regarding itineraries also taking into account bordercrossings etc?.,,, Vietnamparticularly interests us, as they have some pretty cool cities, sights, andbeach locations.
Why don't you start here. You can get specifics from this site as well as Thorn Tree forum. You can search Thailand/Laos border crossings for example on google to see what is convenient based on where you are. Check the weather reports available for each country also on this site.
Write down what you think are the must sees for you. That in itself will help plan your itinerary. If you do north Thailand, over to Laos, are you planning to go all the way south in Laos? Look at the SE Asia map. You will end up near north east Cambodia/south Vietnam. So that is one decision. Do you skip southern Laos because it is inconvenient? Take a look at other peoples itineraries from the past and get a good idea.
