Hello all,
I've trawled the site but have not found a (recent) answer to this question. I'm travelling Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia for 6 wks in June/July. I have flights booked to and from Bangkok. I am planning on a combination of domestic flights and some buses. Would prefer to book flights while there in order to maintain flexibility. Could someone tell me if this is a bad idea and I should do it in advance -- will they book up? Are they much more expensive?
The specific flights I'm considering now are:
Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang
LP to Vientaine
Vientaine to Pakse
Pakse to Siem Reap
BKK to Koh Samui

The following routes are flown only by Lao Airlines:
Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang
LP to Vientaine
Vientaine to Pakse
Pakse to Siem Reap
This route is flown only by Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways:
BKK to Koh Samui
Lao Airlines never offers special promotion prices. Usually pretty safe buying a few days in advance and cheaper at local agents than on the website http://www.laoairlines.com
Bangkok Airways is also not a budget carrier, but you can get reduced web-based fares if you book in advance
