Visas for Laos and Cambodia

I'm planning on crossing from Thailand into Laos at Chiang Khon/Huay Xai. Is it possible to get a visa for Laos there, or do I need to get one beforehand. If I do, how easy is it to get one in Thailand?

I am then heading south, and want to cross from Laos into Cambodia at Voen Kham/Koh Chheutteal or Stung Treng. Can I get a Cambodian visa there, or should I get one in Thailand or Laos?

    Thanks.

You can get a visa at the Laos border at Huay Xai, or you can get one at the Lao embassy in Bangkok beforehand. From Laos to Cambodia there is also now Cambodian visa on arrival, though again if you have the time to get one beforehand at a Cambodian embassy, why not.
