Vaccines and malaria in ubud, hanoi, tanah rata...

  • lindistar

    Hi,
We will be travelling to Singapore, KL, Tanah Rata, Hanoi (also visiting tam cok) and Ubud(including the bali on bike tour) in January.
I wondered if we need malaria tablets for any of these places. My relatives in Singapore says we don't, and my parents(singaporean mum and dad lived and worked many years in SE asia) say we don't, but I want to double check! Do people who live there build up a resistance?? I was born in Singapore and have been around Indonesia and Malaysia as a child with no problems, but have lived in Europe for many years now, if that helps (or doesn't ;))
Also my boyfriend and I had 2 twinrix vaccines 2 years ago, then went to Sing/Malaysia- we were meant to have the 3rd one 6 months later and missed it. " Two years on do we just need a booster? Doc says prbably ok. Forgot to say the doc prescribed larium when we went the last time- after looking at the side effects and speaking to my family we decided that was a bad idea!
The thing is this time we will be in the countryside around Ubud, tanah rata, and countryside around Hanoi which we are unfamilar with.( Mostly thinking about malaria/mosquitos) Please could someone who knows a bit more post a reply :)
And if anyone else has missed a third twinrix or left it ages for their booster?
We don't have a travel clinic here.
I will ask my aunt to speak to her company doc in Singapore, but I just want to see what replies I get here in general.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice!
