Bali or Manila AND Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur?

    Hello,

    We will be travelling in January 2012. We plan to spend 1 week in each location.

    We have to pick one main airport city to be our travel hub - either Bangkok Thailand or Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. For this spot we're looking for somewhere to do some shopping, see culutural sites, and somewhere that is easy to get around. Which is the best one to visit if you can only see one?

    Our next stop will be the beaches in Krabi , Thailand.

    I need some help selecting our final location; Bali Indoneisa or Manilia Philippines. For this we'd like somewhere with great scenic beaches, great snorkeling (we'd prefer to see more larger life - sharks/turtles... - rather than coral if we had to pick one, and good food. (Another alternative to this is to spend longer in Krabi and hit up some other small islands/beach towns in Southern Thailand.)

    Thanks for any feedback, we can't wait for our trip.

    Between Bangkok and KL, I prefer Bangkok. That is a personal preference and I just happen to prefer the vibe of Bangkok.

    Based on what you want for a final destination, you can eliminate Manila. You have to go outside Manila to get those beaches and snorkeling. If you want a destination that can be reached by a plane flight, you are looking at Cebu or Bohol. Maybe even Palawan. It will be easier to find better restaurants at Cebu and Bohol. I don't know which province will have better snorkeling. Perhaps Moalboal in Cebu?

    I'd choose Bangkok over KL, just to widen the cultural experiences that you'll have.
    Between Manila and Bali- two completely different places. Southern Philippines has plenty of world class beaches and diving that are reasonably easy to get to. Whale sharks in Donsol, depending on the time of year.

    Bali would win out for me because of the cultural opportunities.
