I'll be making this journey at the end of June. Unfortunately I don't have the time to be able to make long stops along the way. I want to to the trip by boat, and was wondering how easy it is to arrange, and how long it will take. I would want to stop at Kratie to go and see the dolphins, but other than that, I'd only stop when I have to, unless there is anything that cannot be missed. Any info would be appreciated.
As far as I'm aware the regular ferries between Kratie and Kompong Cham and onwards to Phnom Penh are no longer running. There may still be the occasional boat and/or possibiities of charters, but the vast bulk of people do this route by share taxi/bus or minivan. By share taxi you can do Kratie to Phnom Penh in about six hours.
You boats from Voem Khan only go as far as Stung Treng, though you also do this bit by land if you wish.
From Stung Treng there is regular land transport to Kratie and onwards... you may be able to organise boat transport to Kratie but it will be irregular and perhaps not cheap.

Thanks somtam. Is it easy to get a boat from Si Pan Dom to Kratie? I can take the bus or taxi from there. Thanks.
