Congratulations on the most open-ended question of the day! 8-12 months in SEA, where to go?
Read up on all the countries you're potentially interested in visiting, sketch out some rough ideas. Ask specific questions on forums like this, and above all try to keep it flexible. With that kind of free time who knows what will happen. Just be aware of visas, as knowing the game can help avoid unexpected hassles. For example Thailand only gives 15-day entries if you hop in and out by land visa-exempt, whereas a pre-arranged tourist visa can get you a much longer stay. Do you have a budget in mind and how much/day? Your interests (food? religion? bungy jumping?) and prefered type of comfort (hotels? guesthouses? beach bungalows? etc) More info please.
