Hi all. This will be my first time travelling SEA. My plan is to fly from Perth to Singapore 5 days
    Kuala lumpur 3-4 days
    Pengang 2-3 days
    Thailand 4 weeks.
The trip is for 2 so you could say $3500 each. The flight from Perth to Singapore has already been paid paid for. I would like to knw if this is enough money. We will be stayin in private 2 bed room with a/c when possible and drink 2-3 nights a week not a lot a few beers. We plan to travel up the south of Thailand then up north and loop back down to Bangkok and fly back to Ireland. This flight is also paid for. We have no route planned we just knw south, north and fly home from Bangkok. Does anyone have any suggestion on the best way to do it.

Spend 300USD in Malaysia. More than enough. Excluding tours.

Way more then enough unless you plan on staying in top end hotels and going partying each night. $140 a day for a couple pretty much guarantees you can do everything you want. I doubt you will need to spend near this.

For example my nearly 4 month trip including flights and all other overhead costs was $6200...

It depends how you want to live. If you are planning on staying in the best hotels, eating the best food and going on luxury tours then i would say you are well bellow budget.

If, however, you are planning a very modest living staying in average hotels/guest houses, 3 meals a day, tours and a few beers, then i would say that it should be plenty :)

South East Asia is one of the cheapest regions in the world, so you can get alot more for your money.
