Hi

I have a question, im planning a trip sometime next year to SEA, hopefully to cover a bit of SEA including Malaysia and Sing but that can be taken out

I have confirm 5 weeks but hopefully it can be 6 - 37days or more.

Plannign to land in sing and make my way do Bangkok

its is about $2k to flight all those legs below, my question is, should i just book a oneway from Syd to Sing and a return from say VN to sing and go from there? Is it cheaper than booking the entire trip?

I plan to spend about 12-14 days travelling from Sin to BKK and about 16-18days in VN including a short trip cross border to Cambodia and about 3-4 days in HK then just a short stopover in KL on the way home. (depends if i can take 6 weeks or 5 weeks)
- Is this too much to see for all those locations?

You'll get cheaper flights for Bangkok to Hanoi with Thai AirAsia (www.airasia.com) and I'm pretty sure that Pacific Airlines is cheaper than THAI on the Saigon to Bangkok route as well. Not sure about the other routes, but would probably be worth your while to look into flights with the budget carriers (Tiger,Jetstar,AirAsia,NokAir etc) for the regional flights.

I would suggest that you look at the best flights website, www.bestflights.com.au which I have found to be the cheapest company in Australia. Go to their Flight Specials section,then Asia, and look at what is available. get the best price and go to Flight Centre who will usually knock $20 off. You should be able to get a return flight to Singapore for just over $600 + tax or to Bangkok, stopping over in Singapore, for around $800 + tax. From either Singapore or BKK you should then consider the Bangkok Airlines "Discovery Pass". For example you could fly from SIN to HK, back to Phnom Penh, then to BKK etc. - just look at the route map. Legs in one country are about $55 US and international legs around $95 US. I think that by utilizing that method you could beat the $A 1,500+ that you have been quoted. Taxes on a flight to Bangkok from Sydney return are nearly $A 400 so do allow for them.
