Planning to spend 2 weeks (Aug 14 - 26) arrive Vientnaine (via Bangkok)south to Savannakhet, then east to Da Nang and south to Saigon, then to Phnom Penh, then to Siem Reap and to Bangkok for departure. Could you suggest travel methods and times/distances and suggest how we arrange for accomodations along the way. Primarily a budget trip but would like A/C and showers either ensuite or down the hall. Thanks for your help. We are happy to mpay for this assistance.

Wow! That's an awful lot to take on in such a short time period. You'll be spending a big chunk of your vacation just getting from place to place.
I haven't done all those links in your itin, but I think it would look like this:
Bangkok to Vientiane - either overnight sleeper train to Nong Khai from Bangkok and then bus across Friendship Bridge to Vientiane, or just fly from Bangkok to Vientiane if you can afford it.
Vientiane to Savannakhet - bus (8 hours) or Lao Airways flight
Savannakhet to Da Nang - bus (500 km) double check that the border will be open when you plan to arrive, and have your visa already in hand
Da Nang to Saigon - train
Saigon to Phnom Penh - fly, bus, river boat (never done any of 'em, sorry)
Phnom Penh to Siem Reap - bus (4 hours)
Siem Reap to Bangkok - fly via Bangkok Airways or overland route (about 8 hours journey).
As for your accomodation, check out the guesthouse listings in the country sections here on the Travelfish website. The descriptions will help you find something comfy within your price range.
I hope that helps. Regards.

Hi tjutzi,
Welcome to Travelfish!
We've just added a suggested trip plan that pretty much covers the route you describe. You can see it here. As exacto says you're covering a lot of ground in two weeks -- give the trip plan a read as it includes estimated times for the individual legs of the trip and should give you an idea of bits to knock off. Given your time constraints, I'd suggest flying what legs you can.
No real need to book anything in advance unless you have your heart set on a very particular hotel.
