Hi,
This is the first time my partner and I will be travelling to Vietnam and Cambodia and we've planned to see 2 places only, Siem Reap and Saigon due to time constraints. Plan is to book one way ticket to Saigon, take a train to Siem Reap for a bit of Angkor Wat (I understand domestic flights are a rip off) and then take a return flight from Cambodia home (Singapore). What do you guys think? Is there a better route to take for such a short trip? Are we missing anything else?

Welcome to Travelfish!
Well, there's no train from Saigon to Siem Reap, so you'll need to reconsider that bit for starters!
Given you've only got the week, and don't want to fly Saigon to Siem Reap the quickest way will be bus Saigon to Phnom Penh and bus to Siem Reap. You'll need to overnight in Phnom Penh, then get a morning bus to SR. You could also go by boat, but it takes longer than the bus.
The Phnom Penh to Siem Reap flight isn't cheap, but it isn't super expensive either... if you've got limited time, it is worth considering.
I assume your flying Tiger from Sing to Saigon and back with Jetstar Asia -- gotta love those budget airlines!
