Hello,
Only have 4-5 weeks so I'm thinking of sampling these places. Starting in Siem Reap, then going to Phnom Penh, then Siagon, fly up to Hanoi, fly to Louang Phrabang, then Vientiane. I will be starting and returning to Bangkok. I'm thinking that I only need to fly those two sections. Is getting to Saigon from PP pretty easy by boat ? I will be travelling July 16 - Aug. 16. I will be travelling solo - female - any suggestions? Would it be better to do this trip in reverse? start in Laos and finish in Cambodia? Which is easier to do travel wise?
Can't wait to get back to Asia All suggestions are welcomed
I'm pretty sure it isn't possible to fly from Hanoi to Luang Prbang, i think you'll need to fly to Vientiane.
PP to Saigon is pretty straightforward - most take the boat from PP to Chau Doc and then continue on by bus to Saigon. The boat trip is very nice.
Also in flying from Saigon to Hanoi, you're missing an awful lot of the country - consider doing it by train and breaking the trip up at a few places - Nha Trang, Da Nang (for Hoi An) and Hue are all popular stops and well worth the diversion.
You can also fly from Luang Prabang to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, so perhaps something like Siem Reap - PP - Saigon - Hanoi - Vientiane - Luang Prabang - Chiang Mai - Bangkok would be one way of doing it...
No probs travelling alone - lots of solo females on the road, and no doubt you'll meet others along the way.
