Have seen some of the suggested itineraries and also some great trip reports here but Im being lazy and selfish and start my own thread so please bear with me!
Im not new to Thailand but this trip is huge so treat me like a noob :)
Arrive : June
03 - BKK
04 - BKK
05 - Patong (By bus?)
06 - Patong
07 - Patong
08 - 19th June : Islands / Diving
Koh Tao/Phangan (Meeting a friend for the FMP 18/19)
& others based on your recommendation
Post full moon -
20 - 29th June : Laos / Cambo
30 - Depart from Bangkok (21:00 flight)
Conditions :
My budget is roughly $2000 for the whole trip.
As for as possible Id like to save $ and travel by boat/bus/train.
In Laos Im mainly keen on spending time in Luang Prabhang and any other villages of natural beauty.
Cambo is mostly to see Angkor.
I realise this might get a bit hectic since I dont have the money to fly.
The area's I need help in :
Charting the best route so I dont backtrack too much.
Bus/Train/Ferry info (links to websites :) )
Iv asked a fair bit I guess, thanks in advance!

The FMP isnt really my priority but seems like I cant avoid it, had my fair share of this sort of madness in the past.

Hi,
Trying to see Laos and Cambodia in nine days without flying, strikes me as being as mental as a full moon party.
Everything looks fine until after the FMP.
Let's try and pace out the rest of it:
20 leave KPN on night bus/train to Bangers
21 leave Bangers early morning bus/train to Arany-prathet, cross border, on to Siem Reap
Then you're stuck -- can either continue on to PP and north through southern Lao, or backinto Thailand and north to Vientiane. as you want to goto LP, I'd go with latter.
so:
22 Siem Reap
23 Siem Reap
24 overland back to Thai border, then north to Khorat, Nong Khai (that's a long day of travel but possible)
25 cross border in Laos, overland travel to LP via Vang Vieng
26 LP
27 LP
28 south to Vang Vieng (certainly not a village of natural beauty, but popular nevertheless, and you don't have time for anyhting more)
29 Vang Vieng
30 Overland to Vientiane and then onto Thailand and Bangkok. Be a miracle to get your flight.
I'd recommend spending on a flight from Siem Reap to laos to save you time, other wise you're going to be spending half the time on the move.

Thanks for working that out packtoofull.
I will try and see if I can find a decent fare from SR to Laos.
Im not a fan of trying to cram in too much so if I cant afford the flights I might ditch one country (possibly Cambo)

Iv just heard from my friend who says she might not make it for the FMP after all.
Would the following be too much backtracking/ expense on travel?
Arrive : June
03 - BKK
04 - BKK

Iv kind of digested the fact that I need to do atleast one leg by flight, so let me know whether this can be worked out?

Hey!
My travel plan has turned int a bit of a ?Question? mark!!
Also packtoofull has given me some options but Iv got visa that will allow me only *2 entries into Thailand* so I need to keep that in mind also
Once I return from Patong to BKK should I head by road to Siem Reap or Fly to Laos from BKK and then head into Cambodia?
After Laos/Cambo is done Id like to have about 8 days in the Southern Islands.
