Hi All,
Just going over what we have put together so far for our travels through SE Asia, big trip no time frame, budget around 10000-12000 AUS. Need to decide on a arrival and depature dates. I have not put days next to all stops, want to leave it as open as we can. Thinkin maybe giving ourselves 6 months to cover everything at a nice pace and hoping budget lasting will last that long? Any thoughts appreciated..
Singapore 3-4 Days
Mersing (Islands of Archipelago) if they are accessible 3-4 days
Malacca – 2-3 Days
Kula Lumpur – 2-3 Days
Genting Highlands? 2 days
Cameron Highlands – 3-4 Days
Penang – 3-4 days
Thailand South
Krabi, Ko Phi Phi, Phuket, Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan, Kao Tao. 3 weeks seeing these?
Bangkok – 4-5 Days
Bangkok to Pattaya - 2 days
Pattaya to Ko Chang/ Ko Samet – 3-4 Days for each
Back to Bangkok
Bangkok to Kanchanburi – 2 days
Ayuthaya – 2 Days
Chiang Mai - 2 days
Thaton - 2 days
Chang Rai - 2 days
Chiang Mai to Huay Xai
Huay Xai to Luang Namtha
Udomxai to Muang Khua
Muang Khua to Moung Ngoi & Nong Khiaw
From either Moung Ngoi or Nong Khiaw onward to Luang Prabang
LP to Phonsavan
Phonsavan to Vang Vieng
VV to Vientiane
Would like to continue onto South Laos, Thakek, Pakse & Champasak appeal.
Vientiane to Siem Reap (Fly)
Siem Reap - 4-5 Days (Angkor Wat etc)
SR to Battambang - 2-3 days
Battambang to Phnom Penh - 4 days
Kratie & Kompong Cham – 4-5 days
Kampot & Kep – 3-4 days
Shianoukville – 4-5 Days
Shianoukville back to Phnom Penh 1-2 days
PP - Saigon
Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels / Mekong Delta
Saigon – Dalat
Dalat – Nha Trang
Nha Trang – Hoi An / Danang
Danang – Hue
Hue – Hanoi
Halong Bay tour
Hanoi – Sapa
Sapa back to Hanoi to continue our trek to Bejing
The only point that really jumps out at me is returning to Vientiane to fly to Siem Reap -- given you want to see southern Laos, I'd suggest continuing south and crossing at the overland border into Cambodia and then continuing south via Kratie etc to Phnom Penh, then bus/boat to Siem Reap and pick up your existing trip from there.
