Hi,
I am planning on travelling from Siem Reap (cambodia) to Hanoi (Vietnam). Is there a direct travel way to get to Hanoi? Or do I have to get to Ho Chi Min first? Any references websites to get information on the travel schedules?

I have read that most travel leaves from Phonm Penh instead of from Siem Reap.

DShan, there are 2 daily non-stop flights from Siem Reap to Hanoi with VN Airlines. Mind you, they are very expensive (between 250 & 300 USD).

Adelene, I recommend you get your VN visa in the UK for 2 reasons. 1. we are approaching a big APEC meeting in Hanoi and tourist visas will be restricted as of august. Phnom Penh is notorious for issuing type D visas with absolute no flexibility in cases like this. 2. If you get your visa in London, it is valid for 1 month starting the day you enter the country within a 2-month timeframe.

That is expensive. What are the cheaper alternatives? I would not mind travelling by land (bus or train) or even via the sea if it's cheaper. But I would like to know the duration it will take.
I have heard of the 2D1N Delta Tour that travels between HCMC and Phonm Penh. How is it? Does it travel from Phonm Penh to HCMC?
Also, from HCMC to Hanoi (or the other way round), what transport is availabe (cheap alternative)?

That move didn't go quite as smoothly as I hoped!

DShan -- you can take a boat from Phnom Penh to Chau Doc and then on by land (or river) to Saigon. The quickest and cheapest way though is by bus, costing as little as US$6.

Once in Saigon there's a range of options to get to Hanoi -- train, public bus, open tour bus, air -- all take quite a while -- it's a long way between Hanoi and Saigon.

Another option is to backtrack from Siem Reap to Bangkok and then fly to Hanoi with ThaiAirAsia...

hi all

i'm scratchin my head planning for my trip in cambodia & vietnam. will start off in pp and end in siem reap. i'm planning to go to hcmc, and a beach in vietnam (probably Phu Quoc Island). my headache is my first stop has to be at a beach (from pp) for my boyfriend's birthday. can someone pls advice on the quickest and cheapest way from pp to phu quoc?any suggestion on other beaches?

can you please also advice the best route and most efficient way to cover all the stops?

Why not catch the new SaiGon Bus company bus that runs from Bangkok through Siem Reap and Phnom Penh to HCMC? < http://www.satranco.com.vn/english/gioithieu.html >.

At least you know the wheels will stay on and that the bus is new.

After that you can join the Open Tour Bus (NOT T.M. Brothers - they have bad equipment and drivers and have at least one death on their hands).
