Two girl friends and I will be backpacking through IndoChina and Thailand. Since we will be backpacking none of us want to have to carry large amounts of purchases with us. Is there a mail system in place to mail souvenirs back home? Is it safe? Expensive? If there isn't a government mail system is there access to systems like UPS? I know they say they ship around the world. Thank you!

Like the wolfman said, but to add a little help... in Bangkok central there is a post office, the way I did it was to hire a 'tuk-tuk' (mini-bike taxi) from Banglampoo district (backpacker area) and ask to take me to the post office, it took about 10-minutes. He waited for me and ended up taking me around all of Bangkok for the entire day for about $5 CAD! (I had to stop to be fitted for suits about 2 or 3 times but that was part of the deal) Anyways, at the post office its a bit of an unruly system, there was a rates schedule/pricing sheet on the one wall. It was surprisingly cheap... just make sure you follow your package as there will be others with the exact same box! Don't let it leave your eyesight as there could be others with the exact yellow box size (there is really no order in this place) Best of luck, make sure you use a black magic marker and write everything clearly. I shipped a big box to home to Canada for about $40 CAD... I was wondering if it would ever arrive, but the shipment was quick!
