About the itinerary: Can anybody suggest any possible changes? My plan is to start in BKK, then go northwards, cross to Laos, then Cambodia, then Vietnam from the south to the north, back to BKK to visit the southern islands and back to BKK to get the flight back home. I am getting there from Argentina. Thank you.

Thank you for your immediate reply. Yes, I have already seen that link, copied it and I am studying it. I think it´s the best option, or at least one of the best options, as there´s so much to see.

If only 50 days, I'd limit the trip to at most, 2 adjoining nations. Anymore and you'll only see the insides of buses, etc.
The greatest trap for visitors is to try and see too much. This results in seeing too little as your time is tied up in travel, not in experiencing the people / places / culture.
Personally, I'd choose only one nation; and for a first time visitor to SE Asia, I'd probably suggest you entertain either Thailand or Laos.
So, you choose 1 of these, or maybe both if you want to 'zip' through!

The first issue is not where you will/may be going. Rather, how much time are you spending in SEA?
The time available will dictate the path you take.
