Hey guys,
Have been checking out info for months. Have come up with a rough idea. Just wondering what people thoughts are.... eg to much time somewhere not enough somewhere else. Would really appreciate from advise. Thanks heaps!!
24th Dec – 1st Phuket , surrounds and koh phangan
1st - 3rd Jan - Bangkok
3rd – 4th Nong Khai
Laos
5th – 6th Vientiane
6th – 8th VV
8th – 15th Luang Prabang + maybe nong kiaow
15th – 17th Pakse
17th – 21st Salavan - Pakse
21st – 23nd pakse – 4000 islands
Cambodia
23nd – 26th Phnom phen
26th – 30th Kampot
30th – 3rd Siem reap
3rd – Bangkok - phuket (Air Asia)
4th – Phuket – Sydney

Hi,
The flow of the trip is pretty logical, minimal backtracking. Are you planning on flying any of the legs (other than the last flight) or are you doing it all overland?
One thought, your first bit "24th Dec – 1st Phuket , surrounds and koh phangan" You're travelling in peak peak peak season here - especially for Ko Pha Ngan , it's going to be nuts there this New Years, so, unless you have some huts already reserved, I'd be looking at getting to Ko Pha Ngan no later than the 29th to be sure of being able to find a room. Likewise, if you're looking at visiting Ko Phi Phi enroute from Phuket, it will, in all likelihood also be packed to the rafters.
I'm not suggesting you don't visit these places, but consider carefully the need for reservations, and how much of your holiday you want to spend trudging along the beach trying to find a room.
Otherwise, all looks good -- Salavan is an odd inclusion - Tad Lo is perhaps more interesting.

Hi thanks heaps for your reply.
We have booked 2 nights accom in phuket and 3 nights in Koh Phangan. Nothing in between though, hope we won't have to much trouble. We are just unsure where we want to go.
Im thinking of flying from Luang Prabang to Pakse . I believe the airport will have been re opened by then. Also think i will fly from surat trani to bangkok to make up some time.
Salavan because we wanted a rural, real laos type of place. Tad Lo looks lovely though. Would it be better to spend more time there and in Pakse instead of the 4000 islands?
