The Spot is a new budget place in Kuta Beach, Lombok. Take a left at the 4 way intersection as you come into town and it is 50 meters on the left.
The spot is built entirely from bamboo, including the nice brugga in the main common area. The beds are comfortable with ingeniously installed mosquito netting and the bathroom uses locally made pottery for sinks. Each room is equipped with western toilets and oscillating fans and the place has backup generator power in case Kuta Beach electricity cuts out, as it often does.
There is Swiss management which means that it is impeccably clean-the rooms are cleaned every day-a practice unheard of in a budget place like this. Wandering_man made the mistake of eating peanuts on the brugga and throwing the shells on the grass-- forgetting that the Swiss take a dimmer view of such boorish behavior than the sawdust floor saloons where he spent his formative years.
Two twins or one double bed rate is 80,000 rupiah. Breakfast is not included, but the owner is building a restaurant on site. If anyone from local management reads this I wish they would put a soap dish in the shower, as there is no place to put the soap while one is showering. They are too new to have a website or email address to make reservations, but I walked up at 3 PM on a Saturday and got a room no problem.
I think there are 11 or 12 bungalows. Wandering_man says check it out.
