Hi, just wondering if anyone has been to Bromo and if there are any treks organized up the mountain or is it only just the coach transport up and down for the sunrise? If anyone has done it before, how difficult is it?
Any recommendations on backpackers accomodation?

I have done Bromo but don't recall ever seeing coach transport. You can hike, take a jeep or go by horseback. If hiking you need to leave around 3.30am as it 3 km, around 1.5 hours across the sea of sand. You will leave from Cemoro Lawang area. Once at the base of Bromo, from memory you have to climb about 250-270 steps.
The most legendary backpacker hostel is Yoshi's at Cemoro Lawang. Clean and safe, good food, run by a German.
Depending on time of year and weather if you get to see the sunrise. I would also check to see if there are any warnings about activity. It can get really cold so rug up.
