I need some help picking out places to visit in my three weeks in indonesia, march 26th to april 17th. i fly in and out of bali. although once a big partier, i mainly want to relax and be in places that i can dive, snorkel and surf. that being said, a place(s) that offers the option to party would be nice. doesn't have to be party central. i'll be travelling solo.
1) can anyone recommend a good surfing school? there are many in Kuta, but i hear that is a very touristy place. i could stand it for a week.
2) I would like to get away from bali but not spend all my time travelling. perhaps one week in another location and 5 days in a second? both places should have a beach but also be good for one or two day trips out of town.
thanks.

Not too sure who has the better surf schools but Kuta is the place to find them. Google is your friend here if you get no responses.
Two other beach locations. Balangan in the nicest beach on mainland Bali IMHO. It is on the Bukit peninsula south of the airport which is surfer central (big wave location Ulawatu is here), gets good surf and has a bunch of cheap surfer rooms plus better.
And Nusa Lembongan is another popular surfing spot. Jungubatu Bay is surfer central there with lots of cheap digs and better. The beach aint great but nearby Mushroom Bay is pretty nice and Dream Beach a bit further east is the best beach on all Bali from what I've seen. Surf can be dangerous here for the inexperienced body surfer.
If you don't want to boat it to Lembongan, Sanur is a pretty good beach location. The surf here is a bit of a specialist reef break, maybe not so hot for beginners. Some Lemongan breaks are similar but I've seen a few reef breaks with okay shoulders for less experienced surfers.

Hey...

are you looking only for surfschools or private instructors?
If you want to come out form the surf schools i can recomend you 2 instructors that work together. Before they were teaching in Rip Curl Surf of School and had a good training and education in the theme. The name from their small company is Rust Is Surf and you can find them in Facebook.
I learnt by them
