Semarang, I stayed there for 3 nights at the Purama Hotel, out of the train station, turn right, walk down to the road crossing the track, cross the track and it will be on the left on a muddy road, 160000 a night with AC, toilet, shower, TV and sometimes in the morning I got something to eat.
Other hotels that I found in Semarang; Hotel Pelangi Indah, straight across from the main entrance of the train station, rooms in the 100000+/- range.
Hotel Nedra Yakti on Gang Pinggir in China Town, rooms in the 100000+/- range.
Hotel Blambangan on Jl Pemuda, north side, down from the Hotel Metro, same as above as far as prices.
There are 3 hotels, guest houses down from the Metro facing the large mosque, so you'll have an early wake up, the Semarang and Sahara and the third I can't remember the name. These are all your very basic hotels, guest houses and the prices would be in the 60000+/- range??
Good Trip Polesana

Great!!
Hope you had a great time there.
Not sure why, i've been expecting surprises from this city. Especially it's haunted mansion (Lawang Sewu). Dutch restaurant Toko Oen.
It will be my final stop for coming West and Central Java trip.
Besides Semarang, where in fact you've been to for this trip?
