Hi everyone,
I'll be spending a few weeks in Bali in January and I really want to find a guesthouse somewhere (perhaps around Ubud?) with great views of rice terraces. I don't really care where in the country it is; I just want to wake up and sit outside on a veranda and look at rice terraces. I'd like to not spend more than $50/night.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Matt

Have you considered Sidemen ? Some fabulous rice paddie views out that way (it is about an hour from Ubud) and very few tourists. Plenty of options for under $50 per night.

I've stayed at Sideman in the east and also in the western rice fields at Belimbing. I consider Sideman the better location - and now that the east coast by-pass is finished (somtam - I can't believe this but people tell me it's so) it should be easier to reach from the Kuta/airport area.

I dunno if it is the best, but that's where I stayed and it sure was a good joint.

Yay!! Only took 10 years or so. Will be such an improvement for people heading for East Bali and the Gils/Lombok.
