Hi
Any recommendations for Baluran, Meru Betiri or Alas Purwo? Looking to spend some time in one of these in September after Bromo and before heading over to Bali. Particularly interested in wildlife spotting but would prefer to have somewhere comfortable to sleep rather than camping.
Thanks :0)

It's pretty off the beaten track out there. From what I understand, most people are sleeping in Banyuwangi which in itself doesn't have a lot going for it. Accommodation is generally quite basic and not set up really for foreigners. Getting to the parks is another problem. Might have to get someone in a jeep or an ojek to take you.
Would be a shame to miss Ijen while you were in the area. Highly recommended.

All these parks are accessible by public transport (Baluran being especially easy), and basic accommodation is available in all.
If you go for wildlife, best seen early and late during the day, you should definitely stay overnight in the parks.
In my experience, Alas Purwo is the best one for a range of wildlife (including nesting sea turtles), followed by Baluran.
Meru Betiri offers fewer sightings overall, but as it has rainforest, you may see species not seen in the other 2, drier parks.
