Beaches in east java
19th March, 2011
This will be our first time in Indonesia. We will land in Yogyakarta just before January 1st. We will stay few days in the area to visit sites around Yogya and most likely Bromo. Because we only have about 12 days I thought of skipping travel to Bali and other island and find a place to relax at the seaside on Java (south, north or far east of yogya) I will be greatful for any recomendations for the place or area to stay. Thanks in advance.

Again simple guidebook contents: there are hardly any and none very good.
The southcoast is utmost dangerous-rip currents etc. and its the rainy season, which makes it even worse. There are a few places which the Indo's consider reasonable enough for some weekend beachfun, even due south of Yogya=Parangtretes and Pangandaran nearby Solo, but thats about it. Also: Indo's do not go swiming etc-they go beach=pantai for eating-crab, shrimp etc.
IF you have not yet booked-its far better to book return ex DPS=Bali and do the 1 way trip-thats called open jaw. With AirAsia even more easy to.
