My wife, 4 year old child and I are arriving in Luang prubang on Nov 6. we'll be travelling 3 weeks to Vientiane, Pakse, Bolaven Plateau and finish in Si Phan Don. Does anyone know the mosquito situation for this time for these places. We have permethrin treated clothes, bed nets and deet. Are malaria pills necessary also?
The most "mosquitoy" part of that trip by far will be Si Phan Don.
Some may recommend taking malarials, though I wouldn't (though I'm not a doctor) -- starting out with permethrin treated gear, mosquito nets and deet is a far better approach.
