    does anyone know a site to find out the cost and time for taking a train from laos to bangkok. also how long does it take? also is it possible to take a train from Laos to Koh samui?

    Check out www.seat61.com. It provides coverage of train travel (as well as some other transportation types) throughout the world, including SE Asia. As far as I know you can only take the train to Bangkok from Vientiane (http://www.seat61.com/Laos.htm).

    Koh Samui is an Island - so no train. You could go to Bangkok, then catch the train to Surat Thani. From there you can take a boat. Long trip so you might want to break it up with a couple of days in Bangkok.
