Is the Plain of Jars a nightmare to get to if you can't afford to fly? How much are flights? Is it all worth it in the end? I want to go but my husband isn't sure.

Here's a feature on Plain of Jars by exacto.
It's not difficult to get to (by air or land, though the bus route is time-consuming) -- at the end of the day it's a large area covered in jars and the postcards tend to do it justice, so if you're time is limited in Laos perhaps skip it and buy a postcard!, but it you have lots of time it is worth a peak.
