next month we will be traveling in North Laos and planning a trekking from Luang Prabang (tips?) We travel with our 4 (teenager) kids. Is it stupid not to take anti-malaria tablets?
I prefer not to take them..someone experienced on this topic???

In 07 I spent 5 months in rural laos with my wife an infant and 4 yr old, we took nothing. It was a decision based on conversations with medical professionals there in the country. Since then incidence has dropped further. Dengue, Cholera, Hepititis, AIDs, and Rabies are also present but I don't worry about them either.

    Personal choice I guess.

Some more information regarding pros and cons of malaria meds here. personally I'd go with the preventative approach (use repellant, mosquito net etc)

I totally agree with Somsai. I have taken nothing for the 5 years I have lived here.
