I'll be travelling from Vang Vieng to Huay Xai (where the Gibbon check in place is) and would like to avoid the 2 day slow boat and instead take a bus there. Is this an option? Does anyone know how long it takes and whether it's an overnight journey- meaning would we get there the same day or the following day?
ALSO, after the Gibbon I need to get from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang and once again would like to travel by bus. Is this an overnight journey/would we arrive on the same day we leave?
Are there regular buses travelling between these places?
PLEASE HELP

Bus boat schedules here.

Sure it's doable, all busses run into or through the night.
Both instances you need someone to flag down the bus at the Vang Vien Bus station for you, they'll only stop for a second maybe not pull in to the station at all just along the road. Likewise someone needs to tell you to jump off at the monkey place.
Warning these aren't tourist busses, some have a problem with that, others don't.

The GibbonX office is right on the main riverfront road in HX, about 5km tuk tuk ride from the HX bus station. You need to show up there at 5pm the day before. Bus to LP takes about 12 hours or there are speedboats that cut the time in half but cost three times more.
