Hi
My wife and i and our 8 year old daughter will be visiting Luang Prabang around late December this year [2010],and we would like to rent bicycles [pedal bikes] during our stay.
Is this possible, and if so i would appreciate any information on where the best place to rent from, would be.
Thanks

Hi Puzzle: When we were last there (March, 2009), bicycles were for hire on Sisavangvong Road (the main street, which goes by other names in other stretches) at Lao Discovery Tours. I believe I saw them elsewhere, as well. Don't recall the price, but probably not much.
Happy travels!

Thanks anyway Michael
Interestingly [or maybe not] I checked out Liz Greene, and she has written a book called ''The Dark of the Soul'' and another called ''A new look at an old devil''
So the Dragon slaying theme continues
And indeed my trip to S.E. Asia,is partly to do with slaying some inner demons of my own......
And you thought you were just answering a simple question about bikes!!!!

I think the best rental bicycles are the Asama bikes that rent at the shop next to Luang Say Cruise office on the main street in old central town. Same price as the others at 20,000 kip per day but better quality and design. I don't recall ever seeing childrens bikes for rent.
