Laos in late March/early April

  • Orbital

Hello travel fish. Apologies if this is a rerun question.

I've got two or three weeks and I'd love to visit Laos, however I'm concerned about the weather and the smoke. I'm from Sydney where the weather can be hot and humid. I'm coping OK with Northern Thailand this week. However I've observed that the smoke obscures views to the point where I wish I was hear some other time when the views were clear.

Is it much different in Laos? Much variation North/South Laos?

If it's really much better to leave it for another trip at a better time of year, would Cambodia be any better in this same period?

Yes it will be smoky. The smoke is from the farmers burning the overgrowth out of their fields in preparation for planting a new crop -- Laos does get it pretty bad unfortunately.

Cambodia will be less smoky than Laos, though it will be hot as hell...
