I am considering applying for a job at the international school in Vientiane, and am wondering what people who have been to Laos have to say. I hear, and read, it is wonderful to visit, but what about living and working there? Thanks for any insights you may provide, and happy travels!

Vientiane isn't a bad spot -- not a patch on Luang Prabang from a scenery point of view, but as a place to live it wouldn't be too bad. There's cinema, ease of access to Thailand, loads of restaurants bars etc and, if you have your own transport well placed for excursions. The expat community is pretty small there -- that could be good or bad...
You could do a lot worse!
