hello we are just about to do the classic route from huay xai down to the capital but wish to fly from there to krabi or near buy would you or do any one have recommendations of the best way to go about it !??????
cause we are making every thing up as we go!!!!!

Hi scooty,
You'll be needing to go through Bangkok to get down south, so from Vientiane to Bangkok to bus/train/plane and then down to Krabi with AirAsia

flights out of vientiane to bangkok are a bit pricey, given the actualy distance travelled. if you are up for a bit of an overland adventure and depending on how much time you have, you can go across the friendship bridge back into thailand. there are buses from the morning market in vientiane that will take you either into nong khai, where you can catch a comfy overnight train back to bangkok, or udorn thani, where you can fly back to bangkok and onwards to krabi, phuket, etc. by the way, if you are not in a hurry, nong khai is a fun place to pass a few stress-free days.
