I wanted to put a post up here about our recent 4 week trip to Laos and Cambodia. When I was planning our trip most posts on here seemed to suggest longer is necessary, but I wanted to let others that are planning similar trips know that we were really happy with the amount of time we had and didn’t feel we missed out.
We spent two weeks in Laos and two weeks in Cambodia, we didn’t plan a set itinerary but knew we needed to move every few days…
breakdown as follows:-
Laos:
Vientiane 2 nights
Luang Prabang 4 nights
LP-Vientiane-Si Phan Don day bus then over night bus so 1 night
Si Phan Don (Don Khon) 3 nights
Champasak 1 night
Pakse 2 nights
Cambodia:
Siem Reap 2 nights
Phnom Penn 2 nights
Kampot 3 nights
Kep 1 night
Rabbit Island 1 night
Kep 4 nights
Phnom Penn 1 night
I think the only changes we would make to this if we were to do again would be to spend more time in Luang Prabang, and not stay at Champasak as Wat Phou can be easily done by scooter from Pakse.
I will try to write a trip report and post up. Happy to answer questions if anyone is interested!
