Weather and Travel in May

Posted by AmandaJordan on 15/1/2007 at 01:31

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some more details about what it is like getting around laos in may during the wet season. I am planning on being their mid May this year and want an idea of how bad the roads and boat rides will be etc if we are only taking major routes. We are planning on going from Huay Xai taking the slow boat to luang prabang, spending a couple days there then a couple days in Vang Vieng for tubing, kayaking etc. and then spending a couple days in Vientiae. Any info on what I should expect would be very much appreciated!

Hi Amanda,

Welcome to Travelfish!

Going along the roads will be slower as there may be occasional landslides etc, but given you'll be travelling along pretty much trunk routes through Laos, I wouldn't expect too many problems. May is also just the start of wet season, so if you're lucky you may not even get too much rain.
