Don't really have time limit, except have to be back in Bangkok by July 21. have read transportation is pretty slow and unpredictible. . Was considering Laos, Cambodia, then hit up the islands before i fly home. Im on tight budget. Looking more for the nature side that ive heard so much about. would be more the north, correct? 4,000 islands worth checking out?
What is worth seeing depends on your interests. I suggest you get a guide book and look at the following:
Vientiane, Kong Lor Caves, Savannakhet, Champassak, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, The Plain of Jars.

Make sure to try some Lao BBQ - there's a good spot on the quiet backside of the hill in the middle of the peninsula.
