Hello!
My boyfriend and I are planning to do the Gibbons Experience at the end of this month (still waiting to hear from them to actually book, go figure). We would be entering Laos from Vietnam and so would be leaving from somewhere near the park and/or Luang Namtha, not Huay Xai. Has anyone figured out the fastest way from the Gibbons Experience to Luang Prabang? Or any recommendations for a halfway point rest stop? Thanks!

if speed is your priority:
1. GibbonX > HWY3 > wait by the road to flag down Huay Xai -LPB/VTE bus > LPB
2. GibbonX > LNT > LNT-LPB/VTE bus > LPB
3. GibbonX > LNT > bus to Oudomxay > bus to LPB
4. GibbonEx > Huay Xai > speedboat > Pak Beng > speedboat > LPB
(need to reach Huay Xai early enough to have ~6h of daylight left for the speedboat journey)
for #1-3, depends on what time you reach HWY3 or LNT after GibbonX.
LNT > Oudomxay = ~4h by bus
Oudomxay > LPB = ~5h by bus
Oudomxay is the halfway point, but most tourists prefer to avoid it for some reason.
